Question:

What is the equation used to find out how many grams of protein a person should consume per day? What are healthy and unhealthy sources of protein?

Sabreena M.
Answer:

Typically, the average person needs at least .7 grams of protein per pound of body weight... For example, a person who weighs 150 lbs (150 x .7) would need to consume a minimum of 105 grams of protein per day in order for muscle health. Healthy sources of protein are lean turkey, lean chicken, and lentils etc. Unhealthy sources of protein may include fried chicken tenders- although the chicken is high in protein, the fact that it is fried adds to the (unhealthy) fat content.
