Question:

Why is it important to include a layout when writing a rough draft of a story or paper?

Answer:

In order for a story or a paper to make sense and to have a flow that your reader can easily follow, it is best to build a map for your piece by laying out what will be discussed and where it will happen. By blocking out your work with topic sections, including your introduction and ending statements or ending, you'll have a solid foundation that will allow you to see what might be missing so that it can be added, and what might not be as clear as you want it to be for your readers. Having this set up will make the writing process smoother and faster because once you have the plan in place, you fill in what you want to say and you'll have an excellent rough draft in progress.

Question:

Why is it important to understand what an allegory is in literature, and how to recognize one?

Answer:

It's important to understand an allegory so that when reading a story, you can see hidden and deeper meanings that an author means to convey. Rather than just reading a story about a surface subject, you'll be able to understand that what's happening to the characters may be something much more thought provoking.

Question:

What is the difference between a racist and a racially insensitive comment?

Inactive

Answer:

A racially insensitive comment is often one that revolves around a stereotype about a group of people, such as a statement about someone's likes or dislikes that they base on what they believe that they know about what is common in their demographic. These comments are usually not meant to cause harm. A racist comment, however, is one that is a purposefully harmful one that infers that a person is of bad-character and also tends to revolve around a stereotype. A racist comment is a personal attack, while racial insensitivity is a generalized statement based on miss-perceptions about a group of people.
