Question:

What is an "IF" function in Excel?

Prashant J.
Answer:

To perform the logic test, IF function is performed. It checks whether a condition is true or false. If the condition is true, then it will give result accordingly, if the condition is false then the result or output will be different based on the given input in syntax. Example: If a numerical cell has different values (ranging between 1 to 10) and we want to show whether the values are “Greater than five” or “less than five" in a separate cell then we will use below formula: Syntax => "=IF (Logical test, value if true, value if false)" Example =IF (A1>5, “Greater than five, “Less than five”) Note that Greater than five is written within the parenthesis so that excel treats the string as TEXT.
