What is the difference between pass-by-address and pass-by-value?
pass-by-address would pass the memory location of the variable. Passing the memory location is like giving a key to your house, which would mean that the function receiving it has access to its value. pass-by-value would pass the value that is held by the variable. Pass by value is just like duplicating the value of the variable. Copy paste if so you will from one variable to another.
