Why is it important to see Shakespeare instead of just reading it?
Plays were meant to be seen, and Shakespeare especially has a flavor that is missed if it's just read off the page. The nuances of the language and the intricacies of the characters are unique to each production, which helps us go a little deeper every time we experience it. As an actor, performing Shakespeare is not only valuable in practicing characterization, but also understanding the flow of language and how to deliver the meaning of the line to the audience despite the unfamiliar words.
Why do we write so many essays in English?
The study is English has many different layers. One purpose is to strengthen the mechanics of reading and writing, which are necessary to be a functional adult in our society. On a deeper level, while reading a variety exposes us to many different perspectives, through writing we can understand our own perspective. Writing helps us find a unique voice, born of the experiences that make us who we are. J.K. Rowling said, "Sometimes I don't know what I believe until I write it."
How important is body language when it comes to communication?
Body language is an incredibly important aspect of communication. We instinctually interpret the intention of the message through the filter of the sender's body language. When we study body language, we not only learn to better understand the messages coming our way, we can also control the image we send to others.
