Questions

Subject: Writing

Question:

How can I write a convincing argument to persuade an audience?

Answer:

When aiming to persuade, your writing should follow the thesis statement/main point you've established to make in your writing. Arguments should be made in three body paragraphs if writing a general essay, "sandwiched" in-between an introductory and conclusive paragraph. When persuading, it is recommended to reference credible sources and avoid any ad hominem (meaning your essentially attacking your opponent personally) to establish your own credibility.

Question:

What would be the three most prominent political theories of the 20th Century? What makes them different from each other?

Answer:

The three most prominent political theories of the 20th Century are Communism, Fascism, and Liberalism. Both Communism and Fascism place value in the community or "group" over the individual, but each differ in their beliefs regarding nationalism and class warfare. Liberalism, in contrast to these two, places value in the individual and freedoms over the "group." Each of these ideologies clashed during World War II, with Liberalism emerging after the Cold War as the framework for modern globalization after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Answer:

The best way to overcome all natural anxieties when communicating to the public is adhering to the following three methods: 1. draw your focus to what matters most to you and disregard irrelevant issues 2. allow for natural pauses between points being made to allow your audience to digest them 3. open your palms towards your audience and maintain an open posture
