What is one way to determine a child's cogitative ability? How could you determine if logic is being utilized in their decision making process?
The conservation experiment is a good way to determine the cognitive ability of a child since it makes the observer aware of a child’s distinction between fantasy and reality. A child who is well grounded in logical thought understands that moving liquid from one cup to the other changes nothing except for the fact that it has been moved. Whereas the child who has not yet made the distinction between reality and fantasy thinks some sort of magic has taken place and the liquid somehow grew larger in volume.

What is a way one can positively promote student learning in the classroom even when there are students who may not like the subject? What is a way one can encourage learning in those who may feel they are incapable of it?
I believe modeling appropriate behaviour and attitudes for students is critical to teaching and strongly affects student learning. From my experience in the field and as a student it has become apparent, the effect a teacher’s attitude has on their students; if a teacher does not believe in their students or lacks passion in their teaching, students will know, and this has a negative impact on classroom climate which seemingly has negative effects on academic achievement. Radiate goodwill and acceptance and the students will learn well. By modeling a growth mindset and creating a safe space where students can experiment and discover without feeling “wrong” in their thinking, I will promote healthy perspectives about learning: everyone makes mistakes but this is how we learn; if we went through life error free, then we would learn nothing; if learning is too easy then you're not really learning. Just as it takes fear to be brave it takes realizing you have something to learn to acquire said knowledge.
