What is the point of writing?
The point of writing is to help the reader understand the argument that you are trying to make, and what you have to say that backs up your argument. In essence, you are trying to convey a message and why it matters.
Subject: Study Skills
In class, you are asked to write down notes from a PowerPoint presentation, what is the right and wrong way to do this?
The wrong way to do this is to write down the slides word for word, this is just copying not learning. To learn, i.e. the right way, would be to listen to what the professor says about the slides, then collect the most important points from that specific slide and make them relate to you. For example, if the topic is about a bunch of broad ideas, but the professor discusses only one in detail, write down that specific idea and how it relates to other material in the class.
Metacognition is simply, thinking about thinking. Thinking about our own thought processes and how we go about, in this case, solving a problem. Understanding your mental steps that you took that led you to a solution.
