Question:

The molar mass of a particular compound was determined to be 10 grams. If you collected 110 grams of the compound how many moles would you obtain?

Matt S.
Answer:

This is a typical unit conversion problem where fractions can be utilized through the unit conversion method to solve for the answer. For example look below: (110g compound) x (1-mole compound / 10g compound) this would equal 11 moles of the compound being collected or obtained.

Question:

What is the significance in the ordering of the periodical table of elements?

Matt S.
Answer:

The periodic table is organized to reveal a multitude of information. The organization of the periodic table takes into account the many trends each element takes, its physical state at room temperature, metal/nonmetal makeup, the number of protons in the nucleus, electronegativity and many others not listed. All of the different trends make the organization of the periodic table super significant in chemistry.

Question:

Please explain how the semipermeable membrane regulates what moves into or outside the cell and how diffusion also plays a major factor in cell regulation as well.

Matt S.
Answer:

The semipermeable membrane gets its name from selectively allowing some particles to pass through the cell membrane while others are rejected from the membrane. The cell membrane accomplishes this through a number of different methods such as passive diffusion and active diffusion processes. Diffusion plays a major factor in the contents of the cell and its regulation per concentration gradient. This is due to the fact that all matter moves from a high concentration to a low concentration unless acted upon.
