I five ten frames, each are half filled with counters. How many counters do I have in total? How many blank spaces do I have?
If a ten frame has ten spaces and it is only half filled, then there are five filled spaces. If there are five filled spaces on five ten frames, then multiply five x five which equals 25. For the blank spaces is the same thought. There are five filled spaces and five unfilled spaces. Multiply the five empty spaces by the five ten frames and again you get 25.
