Mark gets a paycheck every 5 weeks for x amount of hours he works each week. Write an expression for how many hours he gets paid for on his paycheck.

The answer is 5x because Mark gets a single paycheck every 5 weeks. If Mark works x amount of hours each week, then the hours he gets paid for will be 5x.

Question:

What is a recessive epistasis interaction between genes and what is the ratio of offspring in which this interaction appears?

Recessive epistasis is when a phenotype is suppressed in an individual because they have two copies of the recessive allele on their epistatic gene. When this occurs, the hypostatic gene is suppressed at another part of the chromosome, regardless of the allele combination of the epistatic gene.

Question:

Simplify the square root of 256.

To begin, we go through the perfect square numbers (ie. 3x3= 9 or 8x8=64) to see which one fits into 256 perfectly (gives a whole number). We can see that this is 64. We divide the square root of 256 by the square root of 64 and we get the square root of 4. So we know that the square root of 4 multiplied by the square root of 64 gives the square root of 256. We can then further simplify both of these radicals into 2 (square root(4)=2 and square-root(64)=8). We then multiply 2 and 8 to get 16.
