1. Descriptive Writing -- the purpose of descriptive writing is to succinctly provide information to the reader. 2. Analytical Writing -- the purpose of analytical writing is to build upon the needs of descriptive writing by reorganizing the information into clear categories and groups while identifying their relationship to one another. 3. Persuasive Writing -- the purpose of persuasive writing is to build even further upon analytical writing by implementing the writers' personal opinion. 4. Critical Writing -- the purpose of critical writing is to take all that is needed for persuasive writing and then further adding a contrasting point of view to the writers.

1. Auditory Learning -- the ideal learning environment would be one where the student could listen to information that is verbally presented. 2. Visual Learning -- the ideal learning environment would be one where information would be presented to the student through graphics, diagrams, charts, etc. 3. Reading/Writing Learning -- the ideal learning environment would be one in which the student could read and rewrite important information, such as notetaking and textbook readings. 4. Kinesthetic Learning -- the ideal learning environment would be one in which the student could take a "hands-on" approach, such as science experiments.
