Answer:

WorldCAT and First Search are very important research tools for any student or patron. They consist of a catalog of title made up over thousands of catalogs from thousands of institution libraries from the local, domestic, and international level. The Library of Congress also has a catalog of titles, and in some cases they hold the only know copy of older works!

Question:

How do libraries acquire material?

Answer:

Talk to your Librarian! Librarians are an important medium between students, books, AND faculty. They know their subject area well, and keep informed on the research needs of their department. If you need material to teach a course, pass a class, or do a deep dive into a niche subject area, talk to your librarian first!

Answer:

Ask a Librarian! Librarians know their subjects, collections, and most importantly *their faculty*. Librarians can be an important resource for students at any level to find important resources, or have the library acquire it.
