How does a student find a title or article which is not held by their institution?
WorldCAT and First Search are very important research tools for any student or patron. The Library of Congress also has a catalog of titles, and in some cases they hold the only know copy of older works!

How do libraries acquire material?
Talk to your Librarian! Librarians are an important medium between students, books, AND faculty. They know their subject area well, and keep informed on the research needs of their department. If you need material to teach a course, pass a class, or do a deep dive into a niche subject area, talk to your librarian first!
