Question:

What story elements should be in a narrative?

Answer:

A narrative should follow each step of a plot diagram. It should have an exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and a resolution. Narratives have to have dialogue where characters speak to one another. A narrative should have a plot that progresses in a natural, believable way. Detailed description, an appeal to the five senses, and logical transitions should be included. Figurative language and words that set a clear tone should be added to the narrative. Finally, narratives should include details about characters that allow the reader to understand their motivations and actions.

Question:

In the story "The Scarlet Ibis" by James Hurst, how does the Ibis represent Doodle?

Answer:

In the story, Doodle is like the Ibis because they are both weak. Doodle was born with a condition that made him very tired, and when he was born everyone thought he would die. The Ibis was weak because it was injured. Also, Doodle was the color red when he was born, and the Ibis is red. Both Doodle and the Ibis die at the end of the poem. Doodle exhausted himself, and the Ibis was injured in a storm. As one can see, Doodle and the Ibis were both affected by the storm which foreshadowed their death.

Question:

What is the theme to the poem "Because I Could not Stop for Death" by Emily Dickinson?

Answer:

The theme to "Because I Could not Stop for Death" is that death does not wait for anyone, and death lasts for eternity. Therefore, one should not take life for granted at all. Death does not wait for people, but it comes when it is ready. People cannot choose a day to die; so, life should be embraced. Death can seem positive, but the truth is that death cares for no one.
