How do I get better at studying?
Study techniques are as unique as the individual. No two subjects can be mastered in quite the same way. Studying for a math exam, for example, requires repetition of similar problems and thinking through the path to a solution. However, biology may require more memorization and understanding the concepts more in depth. I would love to teach you all kinds of study techniques and find what works best for you. I personally love using pneumonics and color coding, so when I'm taking the test I can use the color or word to trigger the memory of the information.
Why is biochemistry such a difficult subject?
Biochemistry is a difficult class for many students in college. It can become a huge hurdle to overcome on the way to med school or post-college endeavors. It covers a huge range of information within short periods of time and goes into depth in some subjects like no class has before. However, the subject can be conquered with persistence! Learning the amino acids, determining zwitterions, and understanding glycolysis is all possible! I cater each lesson to the student's specific needs and knowledge in the area.
What is the best way to study for biology?
Biology is a multi-faceted subject with topics ranging from mitosis to photosynthesis to human anatomy. I find the best way to study for biology is to make it specific to the topic at hand. For instance, learning a pneumonic to remember the stages of mitosis or color coding the different organelles within a cell can help you retain the information well after the test is over!
