What do you think the best style of writing is?
I think the best style of writing is whatever suits your audience. Without gauging and researching who your audience is, you are unable to become an effective writer. A writer's main job is to connect with and engage your audience. If you are writing a dissertation you obviously don't want to include a bunch of sarcasm. If you are writing a tongue in cheek, blog post about the struggles of being a single mom, you will need to research and understand those struggles and put a light hearted spin on them. It is always imperative for a writer to know his/her audience to determine the necessary style of their writing.
Subject: Early Childhood Education
What are some things that might affect the way a child learns and how do you counter any negative imbalances in their learning style?
Children of all ages can be affected by so many things. These might include their home life, the discipline they are subjected to, their inherited culture, the nutrition they do or do not receive, even the amount of sleep they get. I think as educators we have to assess each child's behavior, look for what is affecting it and make every attempt to correct any negativity they may be facing. This may include a conference with parents, making sure they have access to healthy snacks while learning or evening allowing a short resting period prior to learning to ensure they are refreshed and refocused. The main thing educators need to remember when teaching children is that we are their advocates and in some cases their voice and we cannot be afraid to be heard for their benefit.
Subject: English as a Second Language
What do you think is the best way for a student to learn English as their second language?
I believe the best way for anyone to learn a 2nd language is through conversation and writing. This is especially important when learning the English language because it has many different instances of same word usage with different meanings and parts of speech differences from other cultures. I think making these conversations and writings fun, interactive and engaging allows a person to get into the "habit" of speaking the language as native speakers do.
