Question:

What are examples of how different types of study techniques may be useful for different individuals?

Thomas C.
Answer:

Many people learn in a simple way of repetition. While this can work for some, it's often helpful to create associations when referring to information. This can help the understanding of cause and effect relationships when studying history. Instead of simply memorizing dates and events, the understanding of how a series of events related to each other can create a higher level, a deeper comprehension of topics.

Question:

When was the turning point, from accepting to more negative, of colonial American attitude towards British rule in the 18th century, and how did this sentiment develop?

Thomas C.
Answer:

The turning point and cause of colonial American attitude towards British rule were 1763. From 1757 to 1763, the British aided the U.S. colonies in fighting the Seven Years War against the French and many Native Americans. After pouring vast financial resources into the war effort, the British began to tighten the reins on colonial life. The Proclamation of 1763 limited colonial movement west and a series of taxes imposed on the colonies restricted trade and attempted to gain back some of the debt accumulated while fighting the French. This intervention was not welcomed with open arms by many colonists, and it led to an attitude which eventually brought about the Revolutionary War.
