Question:

If a cell suddenly stopped producing carbon dioxide and adenosine triphosphate (ATP), what organelle inside the cell stopped working correctly?

Matthew T.

The mitochondria is the most likely answer, because cellular respiration, which produces ATP, carbon dioxide, and water, occurs inside the mitochondria.

Question:

The current year is 2018. Ryan's grandmother was born in 1935. Ryan's grandmother gave birth to his mother when she was 28 years old. if Ryan's mom gave birth to him when she was 31 years old, how old is Ryan?

Matthew T.
Answer:

To start out this problem, I'd subtract 1935 from 2018 to find out how old the grandmother is, and I'd get 83. Then, I'd subtract 28 from 83 to find out how old Ryan's mom is, and I'd get 55. After that, I'd subtract 31 from 55 and I'd get 24, which is how old Ryan is.

Question:

If there are 32 organisms that are the product of a dihybrid cross, how many of them will show the recessive phenotype for both traits?

Matthew T.
Answer:

In a dihybrid cross, the expected phenotype ratio is 9 with dominant phenotypes for each trait, 3 with one dominant and one recessive phenotype, 3 with one recessive and one dominant phenotype, and 1 with both recessive phenotypes. So 1 out of every sixteen of the organisms should show recessive phenotypes, and 1/16th of 32 is 2, so there should be 2 organisms that are recessive for both traits.
