Question:

Simplify the expression: 5(5x-6) + 2(b-6) - 6b

Tionna H.
Answer:

To simplify this algebraic expression, you must first get rid of the parenthesis by multiplying your factors. Multiply five to the equation inside of the parenthesis it is being multiplied to. Your answer should be 15x - 30. Next, you multiply two to the equation inside of the inside of the parenthesis it is being multiplied to as well. You should get 2b - 12. Your equation should now look like 15x - 30 + 2b - 12 - 6b. To get your final answer, you group the like terms. 15x doesn't have a term it is like so it is left alone. 30 and 12 are alike but, because 30 has a minus sign in front of it with no number to subtract from, it becomes a negative. That equation should come out as -30 - 12 = -42. Next, you group like terms 2b and -6b. That should come out as 2b - 6b = -4b. Your final answer is 15x - 4b - 42
