Can writing be fun?
YES! Absolutely it can. Writing is one of my favorite past-times. When someone is forcing you to write and limiting your topics, it's easy to feel like writing is a burden. However, I believe writing is an opportunity to exercise the freedom that can come from using your voice. I am in the process of writing a novel about certain circumstances in my life and never have I felt more in-tune with my own emotions. Writing has a way of penetrating your walls and reaching places that usually stay untouched. Although it is sometimes difficult to put your thoughts into words, it's worth it to dig deep and find those words that you're looking for. Even if you are instructed to write a paper over a subject you feel doesn't pertain to you, there's always a way to make a subject personal. Find ways that subject relates to a situation in your life and feed off of that. Writing is a beautiful thing and I believe anyone can learn to enjoy it!
What is the most inspiring piece of literature you have ever read and what made is so inspiring to you?
I love literature and everything it stands for, so it's impossible for me to just pick one piece. My favorite type of literature to read would have to be poems written by women at times when women didn't have much of a voice otherwise. I believe literature allows us to grow more empathetic toward certain situations and these poems hit me on a very emotional level. I can't imagine the fear that these women must have felt as they decided to take a step out and express their thoughts while everyone around them was doing their best to silence them. When I read the poems written by these women, I can feel their pride and accomplishment leak through the lines and I feel myself feel a sense of pride at the boldness of their words and actions. Literature is so beautiful because it can take you back years at a time and allow you to feel connected to situations that led to a better future in the current day. It celebrates diversity in that the words that are written can have so many different meanings. They inspire individuals in different ways based off of their own personal circumstances. It is a such complex, but very rewarding subject and I believe inspiring is one of the best ways to describe it as a whole.
Why is communication so important in every day life?
I believe ineffective communication puts up borders that wouldn't exist otherwise. I think some people associate communicating with the words that come out of their own mouths. While this is a piece of communication, to me, being an effective communicator also means being able to listen and understand the person you're talking to. There are so many different types of people in our world and effective communication is so beneficial in learning about those differences. Not only can you learn so much about the people and world around you by becoming an effective communicator, you can also learn a lot about yourself. I think it is so important to be able to identify ways and environments in which you communicate best. Communication goes so far beyond the workplace and education. It extends to every day life and I believe that the world would be a much more peaceful and efficient place if everyone took the time to focus on their communication skills.
