Questions
Subject: TOEFL
How do students ensure best performance on the TOEFL?
The TOEFL can be a challenge because students don't necessarily know what prompts they will receive for the speaking and writing portions of the test. For this reason, it's important to read broadly and gain exposure to a wide variety of texts across English media platforms. That will become one of the focal points of our lessons, so that you can be prepared for almost anything you might encounter on your test!
Subject: College Admissions
What approach do you take in the College Admissions support process?
University application advising should always center around the concept of best-fit, which includes a few important factors. Students should research and add universities to their list that will be a good fit for them academically, socially, financially, and geographically. My goal is to help students identify best-fit universities and then establish an achievable plan of action for creating successful applications to those schools.
Subject: English as a Second Language
What methods do you incorporate in your ESL teaching?
From what we know about cognitive science, we learn best in context. During class I love to incorporate articles, video clips, and other literacy-rich texts to help you improve youR English proficiency. The more we see, read, and hear words in context, the more quickly we will be able to master them and incorporate them in our own speaking. As a language learner of Portuguese and French myself, I practice what I teach in my own learning!
