Question:

What should a good thesis statement do?

Inactive
Erin V.
Answer:

A good thesis statement should outline the points of your paper: any questions you may be trying to answer, assertions or statements you want to make, and a brief description of the evidence you will be using. For example: "The duality of observation and action in So Long a Letter, exemplified in Ramatoulaye's narrative development, emphasizes her struggle to find a balance between tradition and progress in a changing society."

Question:

What were the effects of the No Child Left Behind Act?

Answer:

No Child Left Behind (NCLB), introduced in 2003, implemented a number of federal accountability measures for schools all throughout the country. This included an increase in standardized testing for the subjects of math and English Language Arts and teacher evaluations based on class performance. State and district Departments of Education responded by creating a stricter curriculum to "teach to the test" and led to a decrease in teacher job satisfaction and freedom.

Question:

Please describe an example of cultural capital acquisition in your own life.

Answer:

My family made it a very important priority to take me to museums growing up. Although I don't love art, I can recognize most famous paintings and have seen a good number of them in person. I also gained the knowledge of how to compose and carry myself in unique cultural spaces that have their own codes of conduct, like museums, at an early age.
