In an examination a student secured 30% marks and failed by 12 marks. In the same examination another student secured 40% marks and got 28 marks more than minimum marks to pass. What is the maximum marks of the examination?
Let the maximum marks of the examination be 'a'. 30% of marks = (a*30)/100 = 0.3a. 40% of marks = (a*40)/100 = 0.4a. When the student secured 30%, he failed by 12 marks. This implies the pass marks is 0.3a+12. When the student secured 40%, he got 28 more than minimum pass marks. This implies the pass marks is 0.4a-28. The pass marks in both instances is same since it is the same examination. Therefore we can equate the two equations. 0.4a-28=0.3a+12 0.4a-0.3a= 28+12 0.1a= 40 a/10 = 40 a = 400. Therefore total marks in the examination is 400.
What is the structural model of Freud's psychoanalytic theory of personality development?
Freud described mental map involving three regions or types of mental activity. Id: Id is the region which contains biological urges such as impulses toward survival, sex and aggression. It demands the satisfaction of desires without regard for what is possible or what the consequences might be. Id is unconscious. A person will always be unaware of his Id's existence. Ego: Ego is the component that manages the conflict between the id and the constraints of the real world. Some parts of ego unconscious, while others are subconscious or conscious. Super Ego: This is considered to be the moral component of personality. It contains moral standards learned from parents and society. Super Ego also operates at all three levels of awareness.
