Question:

What do you put in the conclusion of the essay? I always feel like I'm just repeating myself.

Olga T.
Answer:

The conclusion should include a quick summary of the main points of your essay. However, it should not just be a repetition of your essay. You are also free to write why your topic is so important/relevant in your conclusion. The conclusion should leave the reader wanting more- more information, and more answers! It should be the grand finale.

Question:

How do I improve my listening skills?

Olga T.
Answer:

That's a good question. Listening skills take a lot of time and practice. I would get started by listening to the news channel or radio, as the announcers have clear, formal English. You can also turn on English subtitles to help you at the start. A good website to get started is: https://www.eslvideo.com/. The website also has comprehension questions to help you stay on track.

Question:

When do you use a semicolon?

Olga T.
Answer:

You use a semicolon to separate complete, individual clauses from each other. A semicolon should stand in place for a period. For example, you can write "I like to dance on Saturdays. I also like to ski." Instead of a period, you can put a semicolon, making it, "I like to dance on Saturdays; I also like to ski." When you have two sentences beside each other that are very closely connected in topic, it is appropriate to use a semicolon.
