Question:

Short Answer: In a few sentences, describe why the colonists rebelled against King George and the Revolutionary War began.

Answer:

American began as a refuge for those looking to escape the torments of an all too powerful government and an oppressive religious system. Those who braved the Atlantic sought freedom and opportunity. When powers from across the sea began taking away those freedoms and opportunities, the colonists saw it as a personal attack. They shared a common experience of forging their own way and refused to conform to the oppressive taxes and regulations King George implemented in order to maintain control. This common bond allowed the colonists to unite and form a congress to pen the Declaration of Independence from these oppressors, thus beginning the Revolutionary War in 1776.
