The Course provides a scientific foundation to promote understanding of materials from an atomistic and macroscopic viewpoint. Material systems such as soft materials, polymers, metals, ceramics, and electronics are analysed in the research and project-based curriculum. The chemical, physical and mechanical properties of materials (strength, plasticity, ductility, resilience, hardness, fatigue, machinability,etc) are reviewed and analysed.
