My name is Grace Cutshaw. I am a senior at Indiana University majoring in Comparative Literature and minoring in Creative Writing. Over the course of the last four years, I have edited several peers' literary analyses as well as my own. I am the Co-Managing Editor of IU's literary journal: An Inkslinger's Observance. Before that position, I was a copy editor in my first year of membership and a Fiction Editor in my second year of being with the journal.

My teaching/tutoring experience extends to peer editing academic essays in college courses for classmates as well as friends in classes concerning different topics. I also provided feedback on short fiction stories for my fiction courses at IU.

2020 - 2021
As a fiction editor, I was responsible for setting deadlines for copy editors and sticking to those deadlines. I was also responsible for communication between authors, Editors-in-Chief, and journal staff. I took several notes on meetings with copy-editors and double finalized edits to make sure the end result reflected our journal's high expectations.

As a peer editor I was able to provide comments on my fellow students' papers concerning thesis, essay orginization, in-text citations, and sentence structure. I also looked for more basic errors such as grammar, word choice, and spelling errors. I reviewed text evidence in original work when available to double-check accuracy. As copy-editor, we helped deliberate on submissions we received under categories of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. The position required attention to detail in length stories, care and passion for the possibilities of language in literature, and an ability to communicate with editors about corrections and artistic suggestions.
