First you would have to remember that the molar mass of a molecule is equal to one mole. You would have to calculate the molar mass of the reactant you are starting with, then you would have to determine the molar mass of the product so you can determine the grams of the product. You would have to convert grams of reactants to moles. Then you would use the chemical equation to determine the ratio of reactant to product. You would use this ratio to determine the moles of product. Then you would have to convert moles of product to grams using the molar mass of the product.

As you go across a period on the periodic table the number of protons increases. However, the general trend on a period is as you go from left to right with increasing protons the atom actually gets smaller. Explain this trend.

An atom is mostly empty space. Protons and neutrons are in the nucleus of an atom. Most of the mass of the atom is in the nucleus because of the mass of the protons and neutrons. The mass of the electrons is negligible. The nucleus of the atom has a positive charge because of the protons. The electrons have a negative charge. The electrons move at extremely high speeds all around the nucleus of an atom. They are not locked in place. Opposite charges attract. As you move across a period with increasing protons you get a stronger pull on the electrons moving around it. This causes the electrons to be pulled in closer making the atoms smaller as you move left to right across a period.

Kinetic molecular theory is related to the motion of particles which is specifically the average kinetic energy of particles and the impact of that motion. Temperature is the average kinetic energy of particles. As the temperature increases particles move faster. When the temperature decreases particles move slower. The amount of pressure on a closed object is based on the collisions of the particles with the object. If the object is flexible, like a balloon, the volume will increase. The more particles that are put in means more mass is put into the object. This will generate more collisions with the object and also generate more pressure.
