About Kirsten

About Kirsten
Before becoming a tutor, I was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics, teaching freshman and sophomore students at a rural community college in Oklahoma. I taught courses in PreCalculus, Quantitative Reasoning, and Statistics. My teaching focuses on developing conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills. I strive to help students create connections between the discipline of mathematics and other academic subjects. I also emphasis how the concepts learned in class are relevant to future careers outside of academia.

Teaching Experience

Teaching Experience
While in graduate school, I taught introductory math courses for freshmen, including College Algebra, Trigonometry, and a Calculus 1 Discussion. I also tutored in the math tutoring center working with students enrolled in a variety of math classes. Following a short stint in industry, I returned to academia as an adjunct, and eventually a faculty member, at small community college in Oklahoma. I taught courses in PreCalculus, Quantitative Reasoning, Elementary Statistics, and Calculus 1.
