FIFO refers to the first-in, first-out method where the initial inventory you acquire will be the first inventory to be expensed. LIFO refers to the last-in, first-out method where the most recent inventory you acquire will be the first inventory to be expense. Average Cost refers to the method where you sum up the total cost of your inventory and you evenly distribute it across your inventory when you expense it.
