Question:

What is the difference between a while loop and a for loop?

Christina O.

A while loop continuously iterates until the condition stated in the parenthesis of the loop are no longer true while a for loop only iterates for a specified number of times from the stated starting point to the stated ending point. Example while(x>5) { will iterate until the condition is no longer satified } for (int y=0; y<2;y++) { will iterate twice when y is 0 and when y is increased to 1 }

Question:

Simplify (4x^2*y^-2)^4/(8xy^3)^4=1 Then solve for y if x=2.

Christina O.

Use the power of quotient formula a^m/b^m=(a/b)^m (4x^3*y^-2)^4/(8x^2*y^3)^4=((4x^3*y^3)/(8x^2*y^3))^4 =((x^3-2)/(2y^(3+2)))^4 =(x/2y^5)^4 =x^4/(16y^20) The equation is now simplified. Plug in x. 2^4/(16y^20) 16/(16y^20) 1/y^20=1 1=y^20 y=1
