Question:

When discussing printing techniques what is the difference between etchings and engravings?

Kira M.
Answer:

When discussing Etchings vs. Engravings the primary thing to know is that etchings are a chemical process while engravings are a physical one. When you are engraving you are using a tool to cut into the material while with etchings you are using a resist process and utilizing an acid to cut the image into the base material.
