Does Academic Writing require big and difficult words to demonstrate that you understand what you are explaining?
In my own experience and understanding, not at all. Of course, there are words that can be replaced in order to give a more formal and professional image to the essay, but there is no point in using difficult words if you have no idea what you are trying to argue.
Is law as stressful as all those memes pages like to portray?
Some subjects can be very hard, frustrating and difficult to understand. But every area in law has its own logic and distinctive way of approaching an issue, being stressed is part of the journey but if you truly enjoy the challenge, it will be worth it!

What is the main barrier to mastering English as a second language?
Most of the times it is a matter of confidence and fear of saying something wrong. Nonetheless, being able to speak a second language is already an amazing achievement!
