There is a right triangle with the adjacent side 2 in and the opposite side 5 in. What is the value of the angle and the size of the hypotenuse?
a)Remember: SOHCAHTOA tan(x) = opposite/adjacent tan(x) = 5/2 x = tan-1(5/2) x = 39.35 degrees b) (adjacent)^2 + (opposite)^2 = (hypotenuse)^2 (hypotenuse)^2 = (2^2) + (5^2) (hypotenuse)^2 = 4+25 (hypotenuse)^2 = 29 hypotenuse= √29 =5.39 in
What is the most electronegative element among these options? a) Sodium b) Fluorine c) Oxygen d) Bromine
Answer is b) Fluorine Electronegativity is the measurement of the tendency an element has to bring electrons towards it. Fluorine is the most electronegative atom because electronegativity increases as you go the right and up. This is the trend because first, as you go further to the right the closer it gets to the noble gasses, which is the ideal state of an element. Second, there are a total of fewer electrons at the elements at the top then at the bottom of the periodic table so there is a bigger alteration in the change.
At the movie theater they sell both children ($8.00) and adult ($15.00) tickets. A total of 21 tickets were sold for a total of $231.00. How many children and adult tickets were sold?
x= children tickets y= adult tickets x+y = 21 (21 is the total amount of tickets) x = 21-y (to find the amount of only children tickets) 8x+15y=231 (the total price is calculated by the cost of the ticket times the amount of tickets) 8(21-y)+15y= 231 (plugged in the first equation for x) 168-8y+15y= 231 7y= 63 (subtracted 15y-8y and 231-168) y= 9 (divided 63 by 7) x+y=21 (as said earlier) x= 21-y x= 21-9 (plugged in 9 from the answer to the second equation) x= 12 12 children tickets were sold and 9 adult tickets were sold
