About Maria
I'm a sophomore majoring in Creative Writing. I went to a Classical High School, and so have a background in ancient philosophy, history, and literature. I also had four years of rhetoric training, and have taken Calculus.
Teaching Experience
In high school, I often volunteered to tutor my peers in various subjects, from reading or history, to math and sciences. I've edited numerous essays for grammar and content, from elementary school level to college level. I have also coached Mock Trial teams.
Education
Columbia College - Chicago
Literature (Creative Writing)
Bachelor's Degree
2015 - 2018
Work Experience
Grassroots Campaigns, Canvasser/Field Manager
2016 - 2016
I was a street fund raiser for various nonprofits. Without incentive, I tutored my coworkers every morning in various rhetorical skills so they could perform better.
Nova Classical Academy, Mock Trial Coach
2015 - 2016
I managed a team of eleven high school students in Mock Trial. Mock Trial is a competition where students simulate a legal trial. Students act as lawyers and witnesses and argue a case, often before a real judge or lawyer. I tutored the students in the rules and procedures of the competition, edited their work, and coached them on speaking out loud.
