Question:

What are some small ways I can be a better software engineer interviewee?

Miranda G.

Many software engineers go into interviews thinking that their only goal is to get the correct solution in the fastest time possible. Question:

4x + 2 = 7x + 3. What is x?

Miranda G.
Answer:

First, we want to move all the variables on one side of the equation and all the non-variables on the other side. When we do operations to equations, we must always do the same thing to both sides. I'll move the variables to the left side by subtracting 7x to both sides of the equation. We get, -3x + 2 = 3 Next, I'll move all the non-variables to the right side by subtracting 2 to both sides of the equation. We get, -3x = 1 Now, we must isolate the x by dividing both sides by -3. So, we get x = -1/3
