Question:

What is the difference between a perfect authentic cadence and an imperfect authentic cadence?

Lucia L.
Answer:

An authentic cadence occurs in the original key of the piece and is a progression of the V to the I/i chord. A perfect authentic cadence has both chords in root position with the tonic note in the soprano of the final chord. An imperfect authentic cadence is still the V to I/i motion, but with either or both chords in an inverted form.

Question:

Why has music become such a big part of your life?

Lucia L.
Answer:

Violin has been a constant in my life since age 7. It has become my way of expressing myself, calming myself, and essentially is my favorite lens through which I experience the world. Choosing to make music my academic goal was one of the most straightforward decisions I've made, and I'm so pleased to be pursuing what I love.
