Question:

What is the best advice for writer's block?

Inactive
Filip K.
Answer:

Combine these two things: brainstorm and try. Even if it doesn't work, go back to trying again and again. The most important element is not considering how boring or monotonous the subject you are writing about is. You should be able to focus on the demands of the question, assignment or prompt and try to overcome writer's block. Another crucial element is trying to avoid writing shortly prior to the deadline when you need to submit your assignment. This will lead to panic. Panic will only make all of the previous symptoms worse and may lead you to give up on the assignment altogether. The crucial tips for resolving writer's block are: 1) Start writing the assignment in a timely manner; 2) Try to brainstorm about relevant ideas; 3) Do not give up when 1) and 2) aren't working as quickly as you hopped they would.

Question:

What factors have caused an increasing number of unlikely disputes between traditional allies as the US enforcing sanctions against Turkey for its role in the conflict in Syria?

Answer:

A factor that should be mentioned as the primary cause is the increased complexity of international relations. As the relationships, both economic, social, and cultural, between countries grow more and more complex, so do unlikely alliances such as the US and Turkey briefly being on the opposite side of the Syrian conflict despite both formally being NATO member-states. Another relevant factor is the drastic changes that have occurred in numerous countries where there has been a significant surge in populism. Such a surge has led to an increase in non-traditional candidates or political parties gaining power and taking steps that do not conform to some of these country's traditional policies. The lines between alliances have become increasingly blurred as many politicians are aiming to use foreign policy to achieve domestic policy goals. Additionally, a significant part of the public in countries such as the UK and US is dissatisfied with the costs of foreign aid and maintaining peacekeeping operations and a significant part of the electorate has began to advocate for a more isolationist approach.

Question:

What are some of the positive and negative aspects of globalization?

Inactive
Filip K.
Answer:

The primary positive aspect of globalization is that economies around the globe have become much more interconnected. As tariffs and other administrative barriers to entering new markets have been decreased, economies around the world have grown. This has allowed an increase in innovation and opportunities for people around the globe to offer their skills on an international market. On the other hand, there have been several drawbacks to globalization. The primary problem is that globalization has caused an outsourcing of manufacturing jobs in well-developed countries. Another problem is that there have been many negative externalities of such economic growth in less-developed countries. Examples of such negative impacts include environmental issues and underdeveloped labor laws.
