Please describe the structure of a basic essay and the purpose of each block.
Basic essay structure contains three main sections, an introduction, the body, and conclusion. The introduction establishes the topic and reason for writing the essay. Typically, this section contains a Thesis Statement which is an overall statement to summarize the main argument or purpose for the author to write the essay. This statement is often followed by supporting statements which outline the body of the essay. The body is comprised of facts and details that stand alone from each other but work together to support the thesis statement. Each separate supporting idea is divided by paragraphs. The strongest argument or supporting detail often leads from the introduction and succeeding paragraphs continue to build support on the ideas the preceded them. Concluding statements summarize the thesis and how the main talking points of the essay build the argument that makes up the essay.
