Has the recent boom in cell phones and texting affected communication among American teens?
I believe that cell phones and texting has had a tremendous effect on American teens. Teenagers today tend to have more of a fear of public speaking than teenagers in the past. Also, texting has become so acceptable in society, that teens can be out with one friend, while carrying on text conversations with multiple people. The text language has also become part of American teenage writing. Even in formal and informal writing assignments, teenagers are including text language such as "u" and "lol". Although texting can be a beneficial way of communication, it is becoming detrimental to the communication of American teenagers.
How did the French and Indian War lead to problems between the colonies and Great Britain? Why did many colonists develop ill feelings toward Great Britain even though they had fought on the side with British troops?
After the French and Indian War, the British looked toward the colonies to help pay back their war debts. The colonists felt this was unfair because they were not the ones who initiated the fighting. The British also left troops in the colonies, claiming the soldiers were there to control the remaining French citizens in the lands given to the British with the end of the war. The British also refused to allow the colonists to spread west of the Appalachian Mountains, creating tension because the East Coast was becoming heavily populated and crowded.
