Why does it matter if I now how to write and organize an essay in MLA, APA, or Chicago?
Writing is everywhere in our world. Even if you never use those specific skills again, they can help you structure all mediums of writing. We need to know how to address different audiences and understand how to construct professional documents. No matter what you end up doing with your life, you will inevitably have to write in some capacity. In the long run, it is better to learn these skills early on so you will have a foundation of knowledge for further writing endeavors.
Studying is probably one of the least enjoyable things in life, so why do we have to do it?
While I do agree that studying is not an enjoyable activity, it has a long-term effect on life. Having strong study skills allows you to do well in classes and add to your wealth of knowledge. Additionally, study skills can translate to other areas. Whether it is homework or paperwork, having the dedication to do something that you don't want to do will pay off in the long run.
Why is it important to understand every aspect of the English language? (Grammar, writing, vocabulary, etc...)
Language is one of the most beautiful skills we have as humans. The English language is especially beautiful - yes, it is one of the most complicated languages, but its broad scope allows for so many opportunities for expression.
