Work Experience
Texas A&M University, Research Assistant
2017 - Present
Researching the use of high energy electron beam irradiation on the removal of inter- and intra-cellular hepatotoxic microcystin-LR produced by the cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa from drinking water, sediments, and sludges. This work focuses on identifying chemical breakdown products resulting from electron beam irradiation and their associated toxicity. Secondly, the cellular responses including morphology, physiology, and gene expression are also being investigated in response to irradiation treatment.
Arcadis, Risk Assessment Intern
2017 - Present
Obtaining professional experience in toxicology in the consulting field. Project aims include conducting fate and transport and toxicological assessment of various contaminants in biosludge and other mediums (modeling) and becoming familiar with human and ecological risk assessment procedures and reporting. Also assisted in a SERDP funded project focused on developing ecological risk assessment criteria for poly- and per-fluoroalkyl substances.
