Question:

Explain two reasons why physical education is important in our schools?

Stephanie S.
Answer:

Physical education has taken on a completely different role in the education systems today than it used to. It has become a very important part of children's education because of the rise of obesity in children today. Not only does physical education help get children moving and keep them active but it teaches them the importance of a healthy lifestyle through exercise, nutrition, and their overall wellness. Physical education is not considered the kickball class anymore and serves an extremely important role in the current life of a child as well as the future of their overall health. Another reason why physical education is so important in our schools today is because through different activities children will learn teamwork, self-worth, and other social skills that are slowly diminishing in our very technology-centered world today. The ability for the student to recognize self-worth will help them become successful in whatever they decide to pursue in their life. Along with self-worth, the additional teamwork and social skills will be a very important part of a students every day life not only as they continue on their educational path but also on into their career path. It will help them be successful with the colleagues in whichever career they choose to pursue.

Question:

What is a paleo diet and explain two advantages and two risks of this diet?

Stephanie S.
Answer:

The paleo diet is when individuals make an effort to eat like we used to many years ago. It can also be referred to as the caveman diet. This is simply eating foods that are not processed and are the farthest from their processed form. You are basically wanting to eat anything you could hunt or find such as fruits, vegetables, seeds, etc. An example of something you could not eat would be cereal, which is a processed food that goes through many different steps to become a finished product. Two advantages of this diet are listed below: 1) Increase intake of vitamins and nutrients in their original form which can have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. 2) Better digestion of foods and better absorption of nutrients. This is because you are eating foods your body has already adapted to digesting and doesn't have to work overtime to achieve the same results as with processed foods. Two disadvantages of this diet are listed below: 1) You are not eating any grains or dairy which has some necessary nutrients that you need for health and energy and this can cause you to be lethargic and fatigued easily. 2) You may experience elevated levels of bad LDL cholesterol because of the increased animal protein intake which can raise your risk for cardiovascular disease.
