Question:

Why won't my professors let me use Wikipedia as a resource for my paper?

Answer:

When writing papers for college, it is important to use credible, authoritative sources because these will make your argument seem more powerful. Professors and librarians discourage students from citing Wikipedia articles in their papers and presentations because the articles on Wikipedia can be edited anonymously by anyone at any time. If you don't know who made the changes to the article, how can you determine author credibility or authority? While Wikipedia is frowned upon in the academic setting, you may be able to use it as a way to find background information on a subject by following up on links that are presented at the end of the article. Keep in mind that each of those links to resources should be evaluated for credibility too.

Question:

How much of an emergency fund is sufficient?

Answer:

Emergency funds serve as a safety net and can provide peace of mind during times of financial hardship. Most experts recommend having three to six months of your estimated living expenses in an emergency fund. To determine how much you need, add up all of your usual monthly expenses required to cover your basic needs like rent, utilities, gas, and food and then multiply that by three to see the minimum recommended amount that would be needed for an emergency fund.

Question:

Management and leadership are two terms that are often used interchangeably but can mean very different things. Explain the different responsibilities or skills that a professional in a management position might have and how these responsibilities or skills might vary from someone in a leadership position.

Answer:

While professions in management or leadership positions can have the same goals and are both important, managers have the responsibility of carrying out specific functions and have the responsibility for their actions and the actions of their employees. People in management have the skills to organize day-to-day details and solve problems of the business enterprise. They strive to make the operation run smoothly and effectively in order to reach its goals and objectives. People in leadership positions work to inspire followers to pursue a vision rather than manage or direct them in the daily details. Leaders inspire team members to understand how their individual contributions to the work place fit in a bigger context. Ideally, the best managers will also be leaders who can both manage and inspire their workforce.
