Answer:

I pushed the heavy wheelchair across the cobblestone path that led to La Plaza del Cathedral. My abuela, as I call my grandma, grasped the arm rests as she yelled, "Para Angela, para!" Abuela had always dreamed of taking me back to Old Havana, on the island of Cuba, the magical place where she grew up. I couldn't wait to see all the sights and help relive some of those childhood stories Abuela had talked about, some good, some bad, but all amazing.

Answer:

How frustrating is it when your child comes home from school and complains about the shortcomings of another student in her class. We all want our children to be kind and giving but often, we're not sure how to teach them to act this way toward others. By volunteering with your daughter or son in a volunteer program that you both embrace, she can learn the importance of kindness to others and respect for differences. It's amazing how volunteering can make someone feel and without trying to force your child into something, it's great when they learn how good it feels all on their own.

Question:

How do you tutor a student who lacks confidence in his or her writing skills? How do you help motivate a student in the process?

Answer:

Tutoring a student who lacks confidence in his writing abilities involves creating a supportive, nurturing environment for him; in addition, he should be given encouragement throughout the tutoring session so that he begins to develop confidence. I like to be enthusiastic and engaging when working with a student who lacks motivation in the tutoring session. For instance, I may ask her to talk about herself and what she enjoys doing so that I can establish a bond with the student. When a connection is there, it's much easier to motivate a student.
