Do Muslims, Christians and Jews worship the same God?
Individual practitioners of each of these religions may answer differently, but Muslims, Christians and Jews share a divine heritage based on their holy texts. The Qu'ran, Christian Bible, and Hebrew Bible all make reference to the "God of Abraham". The character/person of Abraham is considered a patriarch and spiritual exemplar in all three religions. The God worshiped by Abraham is understood to be the same God worshiped in all three of these modern religions.
Is this statement a correlation, or a causation? There are more popsicles eaten in the summer, and there are more drownings in the summer.
"There are more popsicles eaten in the summer, and there are more drownings in the summer," is an example of correlation. Correlation is the relation of two events or phenomenon. Both popsicles and drownings increase in the summer, but these events do not directly influence one another. Causation is the unequivocal proof that one event or phenomenon occurs because of another. Example: More people swim during the summer, leading to more deaths by drowning. A person can not drown unless they are first in water, therefore swimming is a cause of drowning. But a correlation is not a causation. Eating popsicles can not be unequivocally proven to cause drowning. Therefore a correlation can be observed between popsicle eating and drowning, but not a causation.
