What is the difference between a switch and a hub?
A switch is a layer 2 device while a hub is a layer 1 device. This means that a switch can make decisions based on data that is found at layer 2 of the TCP/IP or OSI model. Generally this means that it forwards a packet when an interface is already associated with an address or flood if an interface is not associated. A hub is like a switch, but dumb. It does not look at addressing and simply floods across all interfaces all the time.

In preparation for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), what is the most useful exam prep?
The best way that I found to prepare for the CISSP is to go through practice tests. Take each test, document your answer, and then research the questions that are not correct. The CISSP Official (ISC)2 Practice Tests, 2nd Edition is a great resource right now to review topics. I can help work through and explain any of the topics that challenge you or that you might have further questions on.
