How do I intend to use English in my daily life?
A language has to be used, or else it will be lost! When you work on improving your english skills, have clear goals in mind. Think about how you will be using English most -- will you be reading? Conversing? Writing emails? How many opportunites will you have to practice these skills each week? How can you find ways to use English more?
How can your use of language shape your ideas and influence others?
This is a big question to explore! English, and languages in general, is all about communication. When you write, you are transforming ideas and information into your own words, which almost always carry your own opinions and perspectives. Good use of langauge allows you to communicate in ways that let your opinions and perspectives reach your audience in the way in which you indend. By learning to use your critical thinking skills, personal experience, and creativity, you can create meaningful ideas. By using the writing process to organise your ideas, you can develop a cohesive draft. By supporting your opinions with strong evidence, you can convince others of your ideas. By understanding what makes clear and impactful language, you can evaluate the strength of your own work.
