What was the purpose behind starting the Aktion T4 program in Nazi Germany? How is this connected to the eventual persecution through the concentration camps during the Holocaust?
Although the Jewish people would be one of the main targets for mass murder in the Holocaust, there would be other victims of the mass murder by Hitler and the Nazis. One of these groups of people selected for mass murder would be the mentally ill and disabled whom Hitler and others in the Nazi would deem unworthy of life. The mentally ill would first be sterilized in order to prevent them from reproducing which gradually lead to them being euthanized through the program known as Action T4. Later on some these methods would be used in the Holocaust when killing the Jews. Through looking at the sterilization and eventual euthanizing of the mentally ill and disabled one can see the evolution of the killing process used in the Holocaust.
