Question:

How do I become a better writer?

Answer:

Keep reading! Give a graphic novel or comic book a try, or listen to an audiobook. Reading will also help with comprehension, vocabulary, listening, and speaking. Find a book that holds your attention (or find a librarian who can help you find the perfect book)!

Question:

I can't find articles for my paper on Google. What do I do?

Answer:

While Google can be a good starting point, you'll probably have better luck searching in your public library's or school's online resources. And while you may be familiar with how to search on Google, there's a different method for searching through your library's online resources. A librarian can help you learn how to search using Boolean operators, subject headings, finding full-text articles, and other limiters like date-ranges, searching through specific journals, and more.

How do I get through this English class?

Answer:

1. Read twice: once for pleasure, once for details. This will improve information retention. 2. Were you assigned a writing manual? Don't forget to use it. It will help you with outlining your essay and citing sources. 3. Give yourself enough time. Procrastinating is tempting, but finishing an assignment, stepping away, and looking at it again will really help you to revise. 4. Use any and all resources. Does your college have a writing center? Does your public library offer free online tutoring or editing?
